Cór Mhaigh Eo, a mixed voice choir with 44 members, was established in 1994. Under the direction of Dr. Brian Lennon, the choir sings a wide repertoire of sacred and secular choral music ranging from the 16th century compositions of Byrd, de Victoria and Monteverdi right through to contemporary composers such as Whitacre, Lauridsen and Dubra. Beside a busy local schedule of performances at masses and concerts, the choir participates at International Choral Festivals with great success and also enjoys travelling and performing abroad, having visited Scotland, Latvia, Italy, Spain, Monaco and Portugal. The choir was part of the 120-strong Peace Choir in the Concert for Peace, Knock Basilica 2016 and also part of The Armed Man performance at the National Concert Hall in February of this year with the RTE Concert Orchestra, under the baton of David Brophy. On the 18th 2017 November the choir was back to the Knock Basilica for a performance of Handel’s ‘Messiah’. This time they were under the baton of maestro Proinnsias Ó Duinn. The RTÉ Concert Orchestra and a massed choir, 180 strong, performed to a rapt audience of  3,400. The choir hopes to travel this year to Italy.

Tredagh Singers Drogheda

Tredagh Singers are Drogheda’s longest-established choir and currently the only full-voice choir in the town.  They regularly conduct performances in the community of Drogheda and around the country and their Christmas Celebration Concerts in the Augustinian Church in Drogheda are always very well-attended and enjoyed.
Having travelled to Rome and performed in St. Peter’s Basilica in the Vatican City in 2012 for their 40th anniversary, they travelled to Berlin to mark their 45th anniversary in April 2017.  They had a 6-day trip to Berlin, Germany, which saw them perform at the Irish Embassy and in Wedding.  They performed an extensive programme of Irish-themed musical pieces in a concert with their hosts, the Berlin Celtic Choir.  Their performance was conducted by their Musical Director Geraldine Doggett and supported by their accompanist, Joanne Kierans.
For the past several years the choir have been concentrating on performing big works for performance in Drogheda.  Haydn’s “ Little Organ Mass” , Vivaldi’s “ Gloria” Bob Chilcott’s “Little Jazz Mass” and Handel’s Messiah are in the choir’s canon.  Musical accompaniment for the performances of these works is provided  by local musicians and solo singers.
Since the choir’s visit and performance in Rome in 2012 the choir has toured to different locations to sing.  The Tredagh Singers travelled to Limerick in 2014 to perform Bob Chilcott’s “Little Jazz Mass”.  In 2015 the choir visited Co. Cork  and performed with the Killeagh Choir.  The following year 2016 Tredagh Singers were hosted by the Killaloe Male Voice Choir. Most recently their visit to Berlin in 2017 was an outstanding Tredagh Triumph and they received invitations to visit again.
