International Line-up for Westport Concert!
International soloists, Louisburgh born Anne Marie Gibbons and her Australian Tenor husband, Hugh Francis are among the artists who will take to the stage of the Town Hall Theatre Westport on Saturday 12th May at 8pm to celebrate the 10th Anniversary of the Classical Covies. A fantastic evening of music and song including Operatic, Broadway and Hollywood film favourites is guaranteed!
Mayo based Mezzo Soprano Anne Marie, whose many international credits include performances in Paris, New York, Adelaide, Lausanne, Madrid and London will be joined by Hugh, recently returned from a 5 month stint at the Royal Opera House Covent Garden. His career to date has seen him grace the stages of opera houses including Paris, Geneva, Los Angeles, San Francisco and Amsterdam. Incidentally his great grandfather, Herbert Ramsay, was the first person to sing Waltzing Matilda in Winton, Australia over 120 years ago.
Other artists joining the celebration include the U.S. based Saint-Mary-of-the-Woods College Madrigals Choir, currently on a tour of Ireland to celebrate the 60th anniversary of their founding by Sister Marie Brendan Harvey whose mother was born in Kinsale in 1885, Violinist Patrick Early, an active session musician and music collaborator, Westport based Pianist Gerry McNally, an arranger and music director and Pianist Aoife O’Sullivan, who is based at the DIT Conservatory of Music and Drama, Dublin .
