(with Special Guest – MATT MOLLOY)

Westport Town Hall are delighted to have local group Coda return to their stage after two sellout concerts in July 2015 and December 2016. Coda return for a very special concert at the theatre on Friday, July 12th with none other than Chieftain Matt Molloy as their special guest on the night.

It is rare to find a group of singers and musicians who combine strong backgrounds in Irish traditional, folk and contemporary music with an a capella singing ability and style developed from various musical backgrounds. Drawing on vocal talent from Mayo on the west coast of Ireland, Coda are seven singers who started developing their own approach to vocal harmonies several years ago. Their first album ‘mouthmusic’ released in 2013 was produced by Maurice Lennon.

Coda have performed at home and abroad at numerous music festivals and venues. These have included ‘Temple Bar Tradfest’ and ‘The Electric Picnic’. They have also performed on many TV and Radio shows on RTE and TG4 in Ireland. Their music has also been used on TV and movie soundtracks. Coda have recently released their second album ‘Train of Spirits’ The album was produced by the legendary Dónal Lunny. The album contains twelve tracks of original and contemporary folk and traditional songs, all superbly arranged by Coda and produced by Dónal Lunny.

A Coda performance is rare, if not unique – seven singers whose harmonies blend beautifully topped off with multi-instrumentation as part of the package.

“I cannot state too strongly how wonderful I think these guys are. I’ve got both their albums now and I think they’re fabulous”; Mike Harding Folk Show
