In aid of the St. Mary’s Church, Westport restoration fund, St. Patrick’s Drama Group, Westport are back one of the most successful and popular productions by the group, with playwright Michael Joe Ginnelly crediting the Westport player’s adaptation of his hilarious comedy as being his indisputable favourite! Following sell-out runs for St Patrick’s Drama group with this play in Chicago, London, Castlebar and Westport, this play is like no other. Set in a seaside cottage on the shores of Clew Bay in the early 1960’s, it captures what life was like when emigration stalked the land and alcohol provided succour to those left behind.

Hanging in the air is the faint stirring of revolution against the Church, where throughout all of this the delicate flower of love struggles to survive. Tom Healy has died. Those wanting to respect his last wishes are faced with a dilemma – he wanted to “buried at sea”.

And what follows is a hilarious string of events brilliantly brought to life by an excellent cast including Pat Gibbons, Martin Vahey, Regina McCormack, Rosaleen Heraty, Nuala Currid, Mairead Ryan, Tony Varley, Patsy Staunton & Lennie Grimes.
