Spraoi na Nollag – an afternoon of FREE festive fun at Westport Town Hall

Sunday, December 17th 2017

1pm – 5pm

Sunday,  December 17th will see Westport engulfed with the Christmas Spirit as The Town Hall Theatre becomes the focal point for Spraoi Na Nollag. Organised by the team at the Town Hall in association with Westport 250 and Mayo County Council, the space brings to life the joys of the festive season. Themed and decorated by the very creative Elsie Higgins the space has been transformed with all the characters of Christmas.

With the Crib and giant Christmas tree taking centre stage on The Octagon the whole area will be the venue for some great free entertainment on the day. Santa will be catching a lift with The Westport Jarvey from the Mall at 1pm and will then be transported in style to arrive at the Town Hall, led safely all the way with festive tunes provided by Westport Town Band. Santa will then meet and greet children before inviting them into the auditorium for a special short seasonal performance by the children of Westport Drama School, led by their tutor Aoife Carr. Little Gem Puppets will also present a puppet show at 3pm and again at 4.15pm on the day. Mrs Claus will also be on hand for some cosy storytelling sessions in the auditorium in between the puppet shows – while Santy looks forward to meeting all the children with treats from Aunty Nelly’s Sweet shop!Seating for the puppet shows will be on a first come first serve basis with all the events free of charge.

For anyone looking for that last-minute Christmas gift – Mayo Craftworks will have some stalls available on the day with some originally produced pieces – all hand made in Mayo and available to buy.
